by Caitriona in  Callouts

Doolin Coast Guard unit was called at 17.08 to assist in the evacuation of a person from a cave at Doolin. A person had fallen ill while inside the cave. Doolin Coast Guard unit successfully evacuated the casualty from the cave, she was then taken by ambulance to Ennis General Hospital. The incident took one and a half hours.

Incident 31/08

  • Dolores Kilgo:

    To the 31/08 rescue team:
My good friend was the American tourist who was rescued from the Doolin cave by the Doolin Coast Guard team. What a challenge to get her out through a narrow, dark, slippery passageway and up and out through a narrow shaft. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You were so competent and compassionate. She was definitely ill (not just a panic attack) and spent three days in the hospital. You probably saved her life.
