At 20.oo, Doolin Coast Guard was tasked by MRSC Valentia to an incident at Lahinch. A member of the public had notified the Gardaí that they had found an object they believed could be harmful on the beach at Lahinch, close to the shore. Doolin Coast Guard members went to the scene and along with Gardaí from Ennistymon carried out a search of the shoreline, where they found a metal canister. The Gardaí called the Ennistymon Fire Service , they examined the information on the label and cordoned it off. Fire Service personnel and some Coast Guard members will remain with the object until a special isolation container comes from Shannon so it can be removed safely from the beach.
