Overdue Walker at the Cliffs of Moher

At 17.15 this evening, Doolin Coast Guard Unit was tasked by MRSC Valentia to the Cliffs of Moher. A member of the public was concerned as a family member had not returned to the car park after a walk at the Cliffs of Moher. The team assembled and departed for the Cliffs of Moher. The team was stood down shortly after when the walker returned , safe and well.

Windsurfer

Doolin Coast Guard Unit was tasked today to investigate a report of a windsurfer in difficulty. A member of the public became concerned when he lost sight of  the windsurfer. The Delta boat was prepared for launch and on standby.Doolin Coast Guard members drove along the coast and a member of the team confirmed that they could see the windsurfer off Aill na Searrach. He didn’t appear to be in difficulty and was observed until he came ashore. The team stood down when the windsurfer returned safely to the shore.

Boat ORA Distinction for Doolin Coast Guard

Doolin Coast Guard team received a distinction for the boat ORA (Operational Readiness Assessment) . All Coast Guard boat teams were assessed during the year by assessors working on behalf of the Irish Coast Guard. Well done to all the team.

EPIRB off Quilty

At 09.25 today, MRSC, Valentia tasked Doolin Coast Guard Unit to investigate an activated EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon) off  Quilty. The EPIRB belonged to a fishing vessel working out of Seafield Pier in Quilty. Some members went to Seafield Pier and confirmed that the boat in question was alongside at the pier. The EPIRB had been accidentally acivated , they contacted the owner and he deactivated the EPIRB.  Coast Guard members stood down.

Gaelscoil na bhFilí, Gort Inse Guaire

Thug baill Garda Costa na hÉireann , Doolin, cuairt ar Gaelscoil na bhFilí, Gort Inse Guaire innui. Labhair siad leis na paistí faoi cursaí sabhálteachta uisce agus an Garda Costa.

Doolin Coast Guard members visited Gaelscoil na bhFilí , Gort, today. They spoke with the children about water safety and the Coast Guard.
