Ferry Aground

Doolin Coast Guard was tasked by MRSC Valentia to monitor a passenger ferry that had run aground off Doolin Pier in low water. Coast Guard members went to the pier and assessed the situation and were on scene until the ferry was able to float off the rocks.

Recovery near Crab Island

At 13.05 today , Doolin Coast Guard Unit was tasked by MRSC Valentia, to search for a body in the water off Aill na Searach. The body had been seen and reported by a passenger vessel . Team members assembled and both boats were launched. Shore teams went to the cliffs . The boats carried out searches of the area moving north with the tides. At 15.45 the body was located south of Crab Island and taken onboard the Coast Guard Boat .

Recovery

Doolin Coast Guard Unit was tasked at 13.25 today by MRSC , Valentia,  to recover a body from the water off Aill na Searach, it had been seen from the cliffs above by Rangers at the Cliffs of Moher. Team members assembled and both boats were taken to the rescue centre. The launch time was considerably delayed due to cars parked on both sides of the road on the way to the pier. The D-Class launched first and made it’s way to the search area , followed by the Delta . Searches were carried out and the body was taken on board a short time later.

Inis Oírr unit of Doolin Coast Guard team was tasked this morning to assist with the removal of a deceased patient from the Health Centre to the Airport.

Fall from castle

The Inis Oírr unit of Doolin Coast Guard  team was tasked by MRSC , Valentia to an incident on the island . A man had fallen and sustained several injuries.  The Doolin Coast Guard boat was launched and proceeded to the island . The Shannon Coast Guard Rescue Helicopter , Rescue 115 , was tasked also. The casualty was treated and airlifted to Galway University Hospital. Teams stood down.

Swimmer in difficulty

At 14.51 today, Doolin Coast Guard Unit was tasked to an incident in the water between Liscannor and Lahinch. A swimmer was reported to be in difficulty off Kilmacreehy shore , Liscannor.

The team launched the Delta RIB immediately from Doolin and made fast headway to Liscannor. The Irish Naval vessel , The LE Aisling, was anchored in Liscannor Bay over the course of the weekend and they were able to get their RIB to the scene very quickly, they recovered the casualty to their boat .  The Shannon Coast Guard Rescue Helicopter had also been tasked and landed at Liscannor Pier .Along with Doolin Coast Guard members,  also assisting at the scene was the  HSE Ambulance service, The Ennistymon Fire and Rescue Service  , the Gardaí, and members of Lahinch Rescue.The casualty was taken on board the helicopter and transported to hospital. Several other people who had attempted to help the girl from the water were treated by members of the above rescue services for shock.
