Bullock recovered from ravine

Doolin Coast Guard and Clare Civil Defence monitored the recovery of a bullock from a swallow hole. The animal had fallen 40 feet into the water and it had managed to get back onto a narrow ledge . The farmer was unable to get the animal from the ravine without assistance. The bullock was cold and a vet was on hand to look after the bullock when it was taken to the top of the ravine.

Assisted HSE Ambulance

Coast Guard members assisted the Ennistymon HSE Paramedics in stabilising a casualty who had become unwell while in Doolin village. The casualty was taken to hospital in Limerick .

Official Naming Ceremony of new Coast Guard Boat “Lir”

Doolin Coast Guard held the official naming ceremony and boat blessing today for their new 9 m Delta RIB. The local community , IRCG Representatives , volunteer Coast Guard teams , Search and Rescue organisations and Emergency Services joined the team to celebrate. Senator Martin Conway spoke and named the boat Lir. The boat was blessed and the Shannon Coast Guard Rescue Helicopter flew over and then landed briefly. Medals were then presented to former Coast Guard members by Cpt. Peter Browne, who was the  Training Officer of the Coast and Cliff Rescue Service and worked with the Doolin team in the early days.  Many Thanks to all attended to make the day so enjoyable .

New Van

Doolin Coast Guard Unit collected their new van , a Mercedes Sprinter crew cab today. It will replace the units Transit van.
