Night Navigation in Burren

Doolin Coast Guard unit were joined by North Clare Red Cross for a  training exercise on the Burren this evening. The team  practiced night navigation .  4 groups  took separate 7 km routes . One team started up Blackhead Mt. and  onto Gleninagh Mt., finishing in the Caher Valley, while another group started at the Caher Valley and finished at Blackhead. The third and fourth group started and finished near Fanore Church  and onto Gleninagh Mt and finishing in Gleninagh. All groups met at the coll between Gleninagh and Blackhead Mts before continuing on their routes.

Horse riding accident

Doolin Coast Guard unit was tasked by MRSC, Valentia, this morning to assist HSE Ambulance Service with an incident at Quilty. A horse and rider took a fall on the beach near Quilty pier and the rider suffered injuries. Coast Guard members assisted the HSE Paramedics to stretcher the casualty to the ambulance.

Search in Lahinch

Doolin Coast Guard unit was tasked by MRSC, Valentia earlier today, to assist Ennistymon Gardaí with the search for a person believed to be missing in the Lahinch area. Teams went to the area and commenced searches while the boat crew prepared the Delta for launch. The D-Class was also taken to Lahinch. Shortly after the team were stood down as it was confirmed the missing person had been located elsewhere.

Cliffs of Moher search

Doolin Coast Guard team was tasked by MRSC , Valentia to assist Ennistymon Gardaí with a search for a missing person . The team assembled early in the morning and launched the Delta RIB while  teams carried out searches along the cliffs. Late in the evening,  the missing persons body was located and recovered from the water .

    I cannot thank all those with the search and rescue team for their efforts in finding my sister allowing us to say goodbye her personally. We will be truly grateful for your professionalism and kindness that you showed forever.

  • Esmee Schroder:

    Thank you so much for your incredible efforts in recovering the body of my younger sister. It is greatly appreciated and we are so glad to have been able to give her a funeral. x
