Doolin Coast Guard : An Appreciation

by Caitriona in  General/Notices

This beautiful poem by Eugene Garrihy was sent to us today.

Doolin Coast Guard “An Appreciation”

We want to thank you but we know
You don’t expect it as you go.
Into the night to look and search
As we lay on our slumber perch.

We see you come and watch you go
In awesome winds and tidal low
Your quest to get there just before
The ocean has the loudest roar.

So thanks to all you sailors brave
That crew who scour the ocean wave
And climb the cliffs where no one goes
To ease the cries and lonesome woes.

Of people lost and people found
In foot of cliffs and Aran sound,
Our prayers go with you night and day
For safe return “le cunamh de”
