Doolin Coast Guard were tasked by MRSC Valentia to assist a vessel on fire which had just arrived in Liscannor Harbour.  Coast Guard Members were assisted by Clare County Fire and Rescue personnel and Ennistymon Gardaí.  The fire was quickly brought under control with no significant damage to the vessel.  Team were stood down and returned to base.

Doolin Coast Guard D-Class crew were on duty today as safety boat for the Annual Lahinch to Liscannor Swim. While in the bay they were tasked by MRCC Valentia to go the assistance of a small pleasure boat with engine trouble 3 m west of Liscannor.The D-Class proceeded to the  stricken boats location . The Inagh was also in the Bay , owned and coxwained by another Coast Guard Member and together with the D-Class boat , it towed and escorted the pleasure boat safely back to Liscannor Harbour.

The Unit was tasked at 14.00 today by the Marine Rescue Coordination Center in Valentia to an incident at Doolin pier. A man had sustained injuries in a fall. He was treated for head, leg and chest injuries and immobilized. He was later transferred to a HSE Ambulance and taken to Limerick Hospital. The unit stood down at 14.30.

The Unit successfully underwent and passed an ‘ORI’ (Operational Readiness Inspection) at the weekend. The Inspection took three days and covered all aspects of boat operations and maintenance.  It consisted of detailed inspections of the boats and boat equipment, all PPE. All documentation, log keeping and maintenance records.

Two boat crews underwent assessment at sea over two days.

AT 11 am this morning the Doolin team responded to a possible pollution incident in Kinvara. Three team members proceeded to the pier area in Kinvara. While there, they took some samples of what appeared to be oil on the water surface. A pollution control officer was also at the scene and he deemed the spill to be of a minor nature. The officer was going to continue to monitor the situation.

Some team members took part in the Saint Patrick’s Day parade in Doolin today. There was a great turnout. The parade started at 2pm and traveled through the village for about 3km.
