
At 13.54 , Doolin Coast Guard team was tasked by MRSC Valentia to an incident at sea. A small sailing boat needed assistance as it’s sail had torn and it had no engine on board, there was a South Easterly wind which was carrying the boat further from shore. There was just one person on board and the position of the vessel was given as approximately 3 miles off Blackhead, between the lighthouse on Inis Óirr and the lighthouse on Blackhead. The team assembled , prepared the Delta boat and launched from Doolin. The small vessel was located shortly after, the person on board was safe and well . He went on board the Coast Guard boat and the small sailing boat was towed back to Doolin Pier.

Doolin Coast Guard was tasked by MRSC Valentia to an incident at Ailladie, North of Doolin. A HSE Ambulance was already on route to the location. A 64 year old man had fallen while climbing , he had fallen 20 ft down the cliff when his harness and ropes stopped him falling further. He had hit a ledge in the fall and broken his arm. Another group who were climbing nearby hauled him back up to the top of the cliff. The HSE ambulance crew and Coast Guard members arrived and treated his injuries . He was then stretchered to the ambulance and taken to Ennis General Hospital.

At 19.30, Doolin Coast Guard Unit assisted MRCC Valentia and Galway Lifeboat in the location of a stricken vessel that had reported engine failure in Galway Bay. After a brief search by sea and from the shore, the vessel was located by Galway Lifeboat and towed to Kinvara Harbour.

At 16.15 today, Doolin Coast Guard Unit was tasked by MRSC Valentia to an incident at Lahinch. Coast Guard members along with members of the Ennistymon Gardaí assisted a man who had difficulty returning to the Promenade from the shore under cliffs south of Lahinch Beach.

While returning from an earlier callout, Coast Guard members came upon a woman who had fallen from a horse onto the road in Doolin. An ambulance had been called. Coast Guard members attended to the injured woman who had hurt her shoulder and arm in the fall. A HSE Paramedic and a HSE Ambulance arrived. Coast Guard members assisted the Ambulance crew . The woman was collared and stretchered to the Ambulance , she was then taken to Ennis General Hospital.

While on route back from an earlier incident ,members of Doolin Coast Guard were again tasked to an incident at Lisdoonvarna where a man had collapsed on the street. The team administered First Aid, stretchered the man from the road and attended to him indoors until the HSE Ambulance arrived. He was then taken by Ambulance to Ennis General Hospital.
