On Sunday 31-08-08 at 15-00 Doolin Coast Guard unit was tasked to investigate a small boat left on anchor off Clahane. The owner of the boat had earlier swam ashore after engine failure and left the boat on anchor, but the tide was filling and there was a danger the boat would break it’s mooring as it was in the surf off Clahane. The Doolin Coast Guard D-class boat was launched at Liscannor pier and proceeded to Clahane. On arrival, the crew came along side the stricken boat and took it on tow back to Liscannor pier. The incident took one hour.
