Call out to assist in rescue of elderly man
While on the river Fergus taking part in the search for the missing man, the Coast Guard boat crew were called by a HSE Ambulance to assist with a casualty. The boat was on the Clarecastle end of the river where they saw the HSE Ambulance on the bridge above. An elderly man had fallen down the embankment and they helped to collar and board the casualty. He was then taken to hospital by the HSE Ambulance.
