A film crew from Arte TV joined the team for training tonight. The crew filmed the team while they carried out a climbing exercise at Ailladee and the boat crew trained on the Delta RIB .

Reach & Rescue

The Unit has recently acquired two reach & rescue carbon composite telescopic rescue poles. A 5 meter & 17 meter models were chosen along with a variety of  rescue accessories that can be attached to the respective pole within seconds. The Clare County Fire & Rescue Service have also purchased 2 poles & a selection of accessories for each of the seven stations throughout the county. Ms. Jo Taylor of Reach & Rescue delivered a training session, at Ennistymon Fire Station, on the care, maintenance & use of the new equipment. This was followed by a practical session on the Inagh river in Ennistymon. Doolin Coast Guard Unit would like to take this opportunity to thank the Officers & Firefighters at the Ennistymon Fire Station for their invitation to this event.

School Visit Kits

Doolin Coast Guard have received their Education and Water Safety packs , ready for September on and wrist bands to be distributed during the Summer. Coast Guard members visit National and Secondary Schools and Scout Groups during the year to raise awareness of safety on the water and to talk about the Irish Coast Guard.

Ennistymon Scouts

Icelandic Coast Guard Visit

Members of the Icelandic Coast Guard visited Doolin Coast Guard Unit today. They were transported from Shannon to Doolin by the Shannon based Coast Guard Helicopter, after they had  visited their base. The visitors were then given a presentation on what we do by Doolin Coast Guard OiC. They were then taken on a boat trip under the Cliffs of Moher on the Doolin Coast Guard Delta while others took part in a cliff climbing exercise.

They had visited Crosshaven Coast Guard Unit , Haulbowline Naval Base and The Maritime College in Cork.
