Capsized boat

While on an ongoing search the team was tasked to an overturned boat off Finavarra, North of Ballyvaughan.MRSC reported two persons in the water and unable to right their vessel. The Shannon based Coast Guard Rescue helicopter was also on the search at the Cliffs of Moher along with Doolin Coast Guard and was tasked to assist the overturned craft. Coast Guard members returned to base in Doolin to launch the boat. The helicopter winched the 2 crew from the water to safety.They were treated for hypothermia and taken to hospital. On arrival on scene , the Doolin Coast Guard boat then righted the sailing vessel and towed it back to Ballyvaughan Pier.

Missing Person

Doolin Coast Guard was tasked by MRSC Valentia, this evening to assist Ennistymon Gardaí in the search for a missing person.The Shannon based Coast Guard helicopter, Rescue 115 , was also tasked . The team assembled at the Cliffs of Moher and deployed search teams from there, covering the coast line north and south of the area.The SARDA search dog with Doolin Coast Unit searched inland areas.
Search will resume in the morning.

Day 2
The search resumed early in the morning with shore teams , SARDA Dog team, and the Shannon Coast Guard Helicopter. The Doolin Coast Guard boat was launched and searched along the coast. Members of Kilkee and Killaloe Coast Guard Teams assisted. Teams stood down at 19.00
Day 3, 4,5
Searches along shore and from cliff top continued. The Shannon Coast Guard rescue Helicopter assisted.
Day 6
Searches commenced in the morning. By late morning , the body of the missing person was seen in the water below the Cliffs of Moher. Coast Guard members launched the boat and recovered the body.

Boat monitored

During bad weather with rough seas today, Inis Oírr Coast Guard members became concerned when a small RIB with 4 persons on board, was seen en-route from Inis Mór to Doolin. Members watched the boats progress and contacted Doolin Coast Guard who investigated from shore.Doolin Coast Guard members checked piers and harbours in Doolin and Liscannor . The boat came in to Doolin but it was not possible to recover at the pier due to rough conditions. Two of the boats crew were put ashore and they drove their car and trailer to Ballyvaughan while the boat made it’s way by sea. . Coast Guard members went to Ballyvaughan to await their safe arrival. They recovered the boat in Ballyvaughan at the sheltered pier.

Cave Diver

Members of Doolin Coast Guard attended an incident to assist ICRO in the search for a missing cave diver at Kiltartan , 3.5 km north of Gort.The experienced Polish cave diver was reported as overdue from the dive by colleagues when he failed to surface from the cave that was completely filled with water.
Divers worked through the evening leaving diving bottles further down the cave in preparation for another diver who would complete the dive to the bottom. It was initially thought that the missing diver might have gotten into some difficulty but found an air pocket somewhere in the cave . The search diver located the mans body 52m down and 800m into Pollonora.
Specialist divers came from the UK to recover the mans body to the surface.
Ennistymon Fire and Rescue Service Joint Exercise

Doolin Coast Guard Unit took part in a joint exercise with Ennistymon Fire and Rescue Service . The search exercise was carried out along the banks of the River Inagh and on the river from the Falls towards Liscannor.
Patient Transfer

The Inis Oírr team of Doolin Coast Guard Unit was tasked by MRSC Valentia to assist the local doctor in transferring an ill patient to the airfield. The Shannon Coast Guard Helicopter , Rescue 115 , was tasked , the casualty was taken on board and transferred to hospital.
