Cave Diver

Members of Doolin Coast Guard attended an incident to assist ICRO in the search for a missing cave diver at Kiltartan , 3.5 km north of Gort. The experienced Polish cave diver was reported as overdue from the dive by colleagues when he failed to surface from the cave that was completely filled with water.
Divers worked through the evening leaving diving bottles further down the cave in preparation for another diver who would complete the dive to the bottom. It was initially thought that the missing diver might have gotten into some difficulty but found an air pocket somewhere in the cave . The search diver located the mans body 52m down and 800m into Pollonora.
Specialist divers came from the UK to recover the mans body to the surface.
