Fall at Pier

Members of Doolin Coast Guard team were asked to assist with an incident at Doolin Pier. An elderly lady had fallen near the water and injured her hip and her forehead. The team attended to her injuries and stretchered away from the waters edge to the top of the pier and and assisted until teh arrival of teh HSE Ambulance. Doolin team were alerted by Bill O Brien Ferry Operator.at Doolin pier that an elderly lady had slipped at the waters edge on the slipway and needed assistance. OiC informed MRSC Valentia and called out a few members to assist. The casualty complained of severe pain to her left hip and had a cut and swelling to her forehead. It was also reported that she became unconscious soon after falling. Team members assessed the casualty, attended to her injuries and placed her on a spinal board to take her away from the incoming tide. She was taken on the spinal board to the rescue van until the Ambulance arrived. She was then taken to Limerick Regional Hospital. Team stood down.
