Doolin Coast Guard team was tasked  by MRSC, Valentia , just before eight o’clock this evening to assist with an incident near Aill na Searrach, north of the Cliffs of Moher. A surfer had been washed ashore north of Aill na Searrach , his companion raised the alarm  . The team assembled and proceeded to the cliff along with a Kilkee Coast Guard member. They deployed para illuminating flares and were then able to spot the casualty below . The cliff climbing equipment was transported to the cliff top for use in the event of a recovery not being possible .  The team continued to deploy flares to maintain a visual of the casualty. The Aran Islands all weather Lifeboat was also tasked as well as the Sligo based Coast Guard  Helicopter, Rescue 118.  The Coast Guard members on the cliff top were able to direct  Rescue 118 to the casualty on it’s arrival on scene.
