Injured Climber

At 14.40 today , Doolin Coast Guard Unit was tasked by MRCC, Valentia to an incident at Blackhead , Fanore. A person had fallen 10 metres from a ledge while climbing. Coast Guard members went to the location and proceeded to the casualty’s location ,nearly 1 km from the road and 290 metres up, at position 53 08.5299 N,  9 15.3438W

The Shannon Coast Guard helicopter had  been tasked and both arrived on scene . The casualty’s injury was attended to , he was spinally immobilised , stretchered to a suitable area and airlifted to hospital.
